Return of the Cold...

My cold has returned with a vengeance, and I’m not happy about it. I was planning on driving into town today to buy the vapor lock for the fermentation jug so I could get the wine transferred today, but I woke up to shitty roads and a snow storm with my nose still stuffy. So, a change of plans was in order, and I decided to vegetate in front of my computer all day instead. I spent most the morning surfing heirloom seed catalogs online, and I ordered about a hundred dollars’ worth of seeds that I am going to need to get started in the loft sometime next month.
I didn’t even get all of the seeds I want to order. I have about three hundred tobacco seeds coming, which is probably enough to last me about five years (one must have priorities), but I only ordered one variety of tomato, of which my goal was to plant about five to six different breeds this year. I ordered the seeds for one type of pickling cucumber, a blue corn seed that is traditionally used for making corn flour, a hodge-podge of hot peppers, and a variety of herbs. I couldn’t even begin to name off, or list, the other things I want to grow in the garden this year… but I’ll try anyway. I still want to order two types of summer squash, about four types of winter squash, two or three different varieties of sweet bell peppers, slicing cucumbers, a cornucopia of salad greens, pole beans, dry beans, lots of beets, four different colors of carrots, three different types of radishes, two types of cauliflower, and a shit load of cabbage (I love sauerkraut). Also, I will need to order about four different varieties of potatoes, one or two varieties of onions, all the garlic for next year, and pop corn seed… This is turning out to be an expensive habit, but oh so worth it come the fall.
