We had a little goat born a few
days ago now. (I haven’t updated the blog since… been a little busy.) It was a
girl. I had no intention on naming the damn thing, but her mother died the day
after birth (we have no idea why… she was old –we just bought her last week; we
didn’t intentionally breed an old goat) either way, we now have a tiny kid on
our hands, and we have been bottle feeding her for a few days now, and I accidentally named her “Feta.” ... What?
And… our Bourbon Red Turkey poults
have arrived! I don’t have any good pictures of them yet because they are
rather… spastic, and I don’t want to get them any more riled up than necessary
with the flash on the camera, which sucks because before they start to grow
their feathers they are just as cute as the kid. Oh well, I’ll share a picture
of one of them after she/he has been roasted for Thanksgiving dinner.
It is supposed to get super below
freezing again here tonight… I have just about given up covering the salad bed
with straw… if it all dies… who gives a shit? I’ll plant another bed in two
weeks when the real spring begins… I know one thing for sure; next spring I
will have cold frames built… Actually, I’ll probably have them built by this
fall; I have decided they are of the utmost importance!
Adorbs!
