As promised I
have walked around the farm doing a little bit of a photo update for today. I
must admit, I’m a bit exhausted at the moment, but at least I’m not sore… yet.
We started out the day by getting the garden area rotor-tilled…
After
that I spent most of the afternoon transplanting the overgrown raspberries… I
did this for two reasons… the first being that they were self-expanding to the
point that they needed to be thinned (and instead of cutting them out, we
decided to expand the entire patch), and the second being that they were in the
way of our planned grapevine trellis expansion project…
Then
I planted a pear tree (I know it looks like a stick, but just wait for the
photo update three months from now… you’ll see.)
Then
I spent the latter half of the afternoon pruning some of our fruit trees.
Actually, I only got half of one of the plum trees, and half of the pear tree
done… I must admit it is a fairly embarrassing start…
We
also got the area between the house and workshop cleaned up… it had become
overgrown with weeds do to other projects over the past few years, and now we
have gotten it back to the point that we can seed it to grass again. I was
thinking about using this area as a salad/herb garden do to the partial shadiness
of the location, but then decided against it.
Here
is a photo I took this morning of our new baby billy, and his mother, the
Alpine…
And
my mother’s flower bed (hahahaha…. She hates these Roosters… but, we are
storing them on the bone until it’s time to turn them into delectable French dishes
like coco van)
